When 95% of abalone comes from aquaculture, eating non-farmed abalone is truly a rarity. Still, here at the de’ Medici, we serve you non-farmed fresh-caught abalone, being one of the only restaurants in San Diego that provide such a culinary experience.
Abalone is what all gourmets dream about
Search in our menu for Abalone Gourmet, the ultimate delicacy! As a connoisseur of good food, you will enjoy our whole pink wild abalone, lightly breaded then sauteed in extra virgin olive oil. Keep in mind that abalone meat is highly desired around the world and limited in supply, but you can enjoy it at de’Medici! Its special sweet, creamy and salty notes make any seafood lover believe food was definitely sent from heaven!
Luxury food is grown by nature for years and years
We always cook with care and consideration for the special products we received in our kitchen, but with the abalone, we take extra care. Why? If for a farmed abalone, it takes about three years to grow to market size (3 to 3.5 inches), for a wild abalone, it can take as long as 20 years to reach the same size. Thus, we make the most of this nature’s effort and prepare for you the best abalone you have ever tasted.
